Inclusive Excellence

Dr. maha younesWelcome and thank you for visiting the University of Nebraska at Kearney web page for Inclusive Excellence. My motto “One for All & All for One; We are the Change” describes the vision for implementing our institutional approach to inclusive excellence.

Learning, environments, people, and responsible stewardship matter and serve as core values that guide our institutional vision and mission. Indeed, our strength rests in affirming the dignity, rights, and access of individuals from all backgrounds to the highest level of educational excellence.

As defined by the American Association for Colleges and Universities (AACU), inclusive excellence is an active process through which colleges and universities achieve excellence in learning, teaching, student development, institutional functioning, and engagement in local and global communities (AACU). This process represents the essence of our institutional existence and the measure of our success. The health and sustainability of our nation, state, communities, and university system depend on our commitment to be inclusive and leave no one behind.

Accordingly, we recognize that our personhoods, institutions, and communities are works in progress and commit ourselves to ongoing self-reflection and lifelong learning. Our journey toward inclusive excellence calls for the ongoing innovation and transformation of our higher education practices to support societal advancement, economic and workforce development, and the holistic needs of our citizens.
